June Recap/Stats

It is really already July? Unbelievable. Half of 2011 is gone. I'm sad about that. Time just goes by too damn fast.

Miles ran: 81

Long runs: 2 - (10 miles, 10)

Highest mileage week: 22

Favorite run: The six-miler that was the first half of my brick (run-bike). I stretched my run to six miles, was anticipating the bike ride the whole time.

Most hardcore run: The Camp Pendleton Mud Run!

Race(s): Set a monster PR at Fontana Days Half (1:48:34); ran the Camp Pendleton Mud Run for the fourth consecutive year.

Current Reads: I really need to read me some books more often.

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure: Playing with my iPhone. It's seriously an awesome piece of technology.

Current Obsessions: I've been keep track of my calories like crazy for the last couple of weeks (thank you, My Fitness Pal app). It's really helped me get ahold of my food intake and take control of what I eat.

Current Drink: Water, especially now that the temperatures are in the 90s and 100s.

Current Song: The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash

Current Wish List: A babysitter, so I can get my runs in early in the mornings. Prime running time is wasted because I can't leave the girls alone and I don't want to wake them up early so I can run. The babysitter can get here at 6 a.m. and leave at 8, and the girls would be asleep for most of that time. How easy of a gig is that?

Current Need: A new holder for my iPhone. I've been just holding it during runs and that's getting old.

Current Triumph: I finally was able to get all of my music from my external hard drive onto my Mac. Yes, I've had the Mac for more than a year and I never really needed to get the music but since I got my iPhone, I needed to get it onto the Mac in order to put it on my iPhone, so that was finally the impetus for change.

Current Bane of my Existence: My wrist. It doesn't hurt a ton anymore and I don't wear the brace but every now and then I'll get a shot of pain on the outside of my right wrist :(

Current Goal: To get in 3-4 runs a week. I've found it difficult to squeeze in runs this summer, more than I thought.

Current Indulgence: I love to drink coffee, even now when the temperatures are soaring.

Current Blessings: My girls, Kennedy and Yvie.

Current Excitement: Our annual summer family vacay is coming up. I might actually get to enjoy most of it since I won't have to work too much during the trip. Holler.

May Recap/Stats

May is over! Unreal. Where did May go? I knew it was going to zoom past us but wow.

Anyway, here is my recap of May.

Miles Ran: 85

Highest Mileage Week: Ran 28 miles the first full week of May

Long Runs Ran : 2 - 12, 10

Favorite run: A four-mile speed workout on May 11 that I blogged about here.

Least Favorite run: None stand out.

Most hardcore run: My 12-miler since I did an out-and-back, reaching the top of Mt. Rubidoux and then coming back home.

Race(s): None

Current Reads: Um... I read a lot of blogs :)

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure: FIFA 11.

Current Obsessions: Dexter. Mrs. LB and I started watching Dexter a couple of weeks ago on the Netflix Watch Instantly and we are through Season 1, two episodes into Season 2. Great show!

Current Drink: Water.

Current Song:
Ich Tu Dir Weh by Rammstein

Current Wish-List:
Season passes for Disneyland :(

Current Need: To drop some pounds.

Current Triumph: I put together a slideshow on a DVD, with pictures and some video, of Kennedy's kindergarten class since I volunteered there almost every Friday. The teacher played it in the classroom after their little promotion ceremony and parents/grandparents/family members loved it. They all clapped and cheered loudly after it was over. The last day of school, I burned copies for all the kids and gave them all away. It's a nice way for the kids to remember their kindergarten days and for them to share some moments with people who were unable to be there for things like Halloween and Cinco de Mayo.

Current Bane of my Existence: My wrist. It's getting better and better but still, I think that I might have done some long-term damage. Could become my trick wrist that flares up every now and then.

Current Goal: To finish the Fontana Half Marahton in under two hours.

Current Indulgence: Sleeping in. I've been doing a little bit of that lately.

Current Blessings: Kennedy and Yvie, Yvie and Kennedy. However you say 'em, they are Daddy's little angels, and I am lucky they are in my life.

Current Excitement: The Camp Pendleton Mud Run is on June 18!!!!!!!!!

April Recap

Wow, it's May already. When did that happen and what happened to April?

Anyway, May's gonna be a fun month both running and with the family. I'll explain.

April Recap/Stats

Miles Ran: 75

Highest Mileage Week: 36

Long Runs Ran: 2 (10, 26.2)

Favorite run: Diamond Valley Lake Marathon on 4/9

Least Favorite run: There are no such things for me, I enjoy running and try to enjoy every run.

Most hardcore run: It doesn't get much more hardcore than a marathon, and then to run a marathon that is apparently for hardcore marathoners... well, that kinda makes the DVL Marathon a hardcore run.

Race(s): Have I mentioned I ran the Diamond Valley Lake Marathon?? I'm still and will forever be glowing in the aftermath of that race.

Current Reads: Am reading a couple of books on mountain climbing, maybe I'll blog about that

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure: Playing a game on the girls' Nintendo DS. I blame Mrs. LB since she started playing it first. It's a puzzle game called Jewel Master. Addicting.

Current Obsessions: Playing board games (Dominion mostly, which is actually a card game). I blame my brother Danny.

Current Drink: Water. Agua. Wasser.

Current Song: Ready to Start, by Arcade Fire. That song's legit. Arcade Fire won Grammy for Best Album of the Year, and that whole album has for me lived up to such a lofty award.

Current Wish-List: To get my Sirius re-installed in my truck

Current Need: I need to register for a handful of races that I'm planning on doing here in the next few months.

Current Triumph: Having run Marathon No. 4.

Current Bane of my Existence: Bad drivers. I take the long way to places a lot around here because I go the less-traffic way because otherwise these bad drivers just irritate me. Grrr...

Current Goal: To get to averaging 40 miles a week.

Current Indulgence: Trail mix. I swear I never buy the stuff because I pop it in my mouth like candy.

Current Blessings: Yvonne and Kennedy, daddy's superstars.

Current Excitement: School gets out on May 26! Beach trips, bike rides, walks up Mt Rubidoux, trips to the library and - best of all - lazy mornings around the house... that's what the girls and I have to look forward to afterward. How can you NOT get excited about that??

Most hardcore run: Running 10 miles on a track during 20-miler

Race(s): None in March.

Current Reads: Started The Long Run recently

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure: Tecmo Bowl. I bought it on the Wii virtual console. I played it all. the. time. when I was 13 or so. It was awesome then, it's awesome now.

Current Obsessions: I love playing board games. My favorites right now are Ticket to Ride and Dominion.

Current Drink: Water.

Relying on my number one running song, Orion by Metallica, to come through for me in my upcoming marathon.

The Seaside expansion for Dominion (sounds geeky, I know, but it's a great way to spend some time)

February Recap

I shamelessly stole this from one of my favorite blogs, Caution: Redhead Running.

Here's how my month shaped up:

February Recap/Stats

Miles Ran: 113

Highest Mileage Week: 41

Long Runs Ran - 3 (26.2, 12, 12)

Favorite run: I had a great 12-miler one week after my marathon. I had planned to do eight but went for 12 and was really encouraged by how I felt afterward.

Least Favorite run: An 8-miler on 2/20. Had planned for 12-14 in the a.m., couldn't run it then, had to do it in afternoon and just felt like crap all the way through.

Most hardcore run: Mt. Rubidoux. I only ran that once but I have a feeling it's going to be a regular thing

Race(s): Feb. 6 - Surf City Marathon (!) new PR (!) of 4:23:38 (!!!!!!)
Feb. 19 - Fountain Valley 5K - 21:50 (!)

Current Reads: I checked out The Hobbit from the library. Can you believe I've never read that?

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure: FIFA 11 on the Wii.

Current Obsessions: See above.

Current Drink: Water.

Current Song: Even though I posted another song of theirs yesterday... Conscience Killer by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Current Wish-List: Running shoes (yes, I know I just got a new pair but I'd love to have two new pairs and alternate them)

Current Need: To find my headphones. I just bought a pair, but my Yurbuds on them, used them once and now I can't find them. Grrr!!

Current Triumph: Running my third marathon. A close second is helping Yvie learn to ride her bike.

Current Bane of my Existence: Food. I've done better to curb my desire of food but it's a daily battle. Some days I win, some days I don't.

Current Goal: To run 18 on Sunday and 22 on 3/20 in preparation for Diamond Valley Lake Marathon, April 9.

Current Indulgence: Stupid Wii.

Current Blessings: Their names are Yvonne and Kennedy and I am forever blessed to be their dad.

Current Excitement: Spring Break, no school March 13-18. Now that Yvie can ride a bike, I foresee a trip to the beach and the LB clan riding bikes along the beach path.

LB's September Recap

I'm a thief. Without any shame, second-thoughts or anything, I stole this. And I don't have any regrets.

Well, a few I think, otherwise I wouldn't have prefaced this post with an intro graph.

Anyway, blog buddy Morgan of Caution: Redhead Running does this on her blog and she is quite the innovator. Since I enjoy reading this so much I figured it wouldn't hurt to take this, modify it a little to fit my needs and post it here for my own blog readers to see.

Without further ado, here is my September recap.

Miles Ran: 124.07

Rest Days Taken: 12

Highest Mileage Week: 32.8
