Friday Leftovers (April 2)

Friday post of leftover stuff. Strange how blog traffic seems light on Fridays. Why is that? Maybe my readers get tired of these lame posts?

Explanations: I haven't had a hangover in a long time, and that's a good thing. I used to be able to recover from them just fine but now it's something that lasts all day. The worst recent hangover I had was on Jan. 1, 2007. I drank almost an entire bottle of tequila by myself the night before, to the point where I blacked out and couldn't remember what I did. Luckily Mrs. LB was with me to keep me from doing anything too stupid. I was beyond weak the next day and felt completely drained of anything. It was a wasted day for sure.

Parking Situation

Remember my tirade, I mean, letter?

Well, it seems the school read it. Okay, maybe they didn't, but something happened. The CHP was out there on several occasions after the initial day. I saw them out there, keeping an eye on things, writing tickets (!) and taking control of the situation every day.

So maybe they had an influence on the change, but something went down. The school will changed things up. Basically, instead of one entrance for parents to drop-off/pick-up, there will now be two. See, there was a bus lane for buses (duh) and that's right in front of the scool. We are off limits to that. But once school resumes in the 12th, the bus lane will now be one of two drop-off/pick-up areas. If you go south, you will enter that way and you only be allowed to make a left to exit. If you come north, you will enter in the existing drop-off/pick-up area and you will only be allowed to make a right out of the parking lot. That seems much better.

Also, the letter the school sent out explicitly says that the red curb will not be a stopping point anymore.

It's great that the school is taking measures to do something about the morons who put children and other drivers at risk simply because they are too impatient to wait. It remains to be seen whether people stop being morons or not but the school can only do so much.

You Can't Make This Stuff Up

A friend of mine told me something hilarious recently, and if it wasn't true you'd think he was making an ethnic joke, which he wasn't.

My friend's dad is a lawyer and was working with a local city council over some issues. This city is predominantly Asian, and that is reflected in the city council. All but two of the city council members were Asian.

The last names of the non-Asian councilmembers: Frye and Rice.

Part Two

Once when I was at school I had a classmate with the last name Diaz. I'm sure there were more than one Diaz I went to school with as that's not an uncommon last name. But I remember this one because the teacher was taking roll that morning.

Bueno: (I raised my hand)
Diaz: Here.

Good morning to you too, Mr. Teacher.

LB, I'm in Ottawa today visiting my sister-in-law. I showed her your blog. She has a soccer question for you, what Jersey will you be wearing during the World Cup? She's trying to decide who she should put her allegiance with.
Also, what about Wayne Rooney's ankle?

Lots of points to cover:

Friday blog traffic - I think Friday blog traffic is lighter because everyone is busy making plans for the weekend. I think blog traffic, in general, has been lighter since Spring started, too. I know I've been busy with other things and haven't been as good about commenting on blogs in the last few weeks.

Tequila Hangovers - The worst! I've over indulged in Long Island Iced Teas (which have a good amount of tequila in them) and paid for it the next day with a migraine and queasy stomach.

Parking - Lucky you! I'm glad your school cares enough to make some changes. Our school continues to ignore the problem.

Love the Frye/Rice and Bueno/Diaz!

I am glad the school is taking this seriously! If we can't even make schools safer, what the hell are we doing as a society!!

You crack me up - thanks for the Friday laugh - I needed it.

Anymore thoughts on SF? Not that I'm bugging you or anything ;)

I've been kicking some ass on hills lately, partly because I want to do well in my upcoming half marathon (hilly course) but also with an eye on San Fran.

I want to do it. That part is clear, but I've still got a little doubt in me because of the course.

Ha ha. I didn't get it at first, the Bueno/Dianz thing but now I do. Too funny.

So you are only 93.4% certain you will run the SF Marathon? Yeah, I've looked at the half but I don't want to do it alone. It all comes down to having someone to run with and I have nobody. San Jose Rock n Roll is also a possibility but again, I want to run it with someone.

I think blog traffic tends to be light over the weekend period.

Told you I'd come say hello! Thanks again for all the help.
