Pre-race Thoughts

Well, it's one day until the Holiday Classic and my first 15K race. I think after having reflected on it earlier this week that I've changed my goal once more. Originally I'd wanted to run it in about 1 hour 20 minutes but that went out the window when I struggled in my tempo run. Then I thought about 1 hour 23 minutes but now I'm not even sure I can do that. I'm guessing I'll finish between 1 hour 25 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes.

My legs are tired and they will be tired on Sunday morning. I ran 5 miles on the treadmill Friday morning, then had a varsity girls soccer game that afternoon, and today I'm slated for two games. I'm not going to get much of a chance to rest before Sunday.

But I'm focused and prepared. At least I will be once Sunday comes here. And before I move on to my playlist, I tore the tape off my nips on Friday. I made myself do it during my treadmill run, in a way that nobody could tell what I was doing. It hurt but of course not too bad, at least not as bad as I'd thought.

And then my nips hurt during the soccer game. Crap! I can't win for trying.

Anyway, I'm actually very excited to listen to this playlist for Sunday's run.

I mixed it up a bit and didn't put the usual running songs in there. Well, some I did but not all.

Can you believe I never put Nirvana's In Utero CD on my iPod even though I've had that CD for a long, long time? I'm very excited to run to some of the songs on there. Radio Friendly Unit Shifter is a fantastic song, if you like hard music. I can't wait to run to that!

And notice the Christmas song on there? I'm not totally sure how that is going to work but that song is in honor of Kerrie T, who used some holiday songs during her half-marathon last week. She's an inspiration, and I could always use some inspiration during races. And that song is probably my favorite holiday song, well, one of my top three anyway.

I started to get some jitters for this race on Friday so I guess that means I'm looking forward to the race.

I like this mix! Minus that xmas song. I hate xmas music, and that song in particular. My sis & I call it the date rape song.:)

Good luck tomorrow! I can't wait to hear how you did! Update it on FB once you are done.

I was worried for a minute that you were going to run without Metallica! Glad to see you've kept them in the mix!

Good luck on Sunday!

LB - love all the running you're doing this year and the personal goals you are achieving!! Such an inspiration. I've fallen into the routine of doing 2 to 3 miles and one 6 miler during the week all on the treadmill. My Garmin sits there all dusty wondering why it's never used anymore! :) I've been finding more satisfaction doing three weight training classes a week and keeping the cardio going on the mill. I do however live vicariously through your posts - both feeling envious of your passion and drive as well as remembering fondly mine. Good luck tomorrow - look forward to the updated post!!
