I should have posted this yesterday in the original post about eating out. I went to Islands after all and, well, things could have been better.
The problem with going out, of course, is that you can't control what you are eating. And when you go to an unfamiliar place like Islands it's worse. The problem yesterday too was that people ordered appetizers and with a hungry stomach I couldn't resist the chips and salsa.
I ordered a chicken wrap which was not on the calorieking.com link. That happens, especially if it's something new to the menu. I ordered it without dressing and avocado. Dressings add loads of calories and I dont' really miss the flavor of it when I omit it. I am not a fan of avocados so I passed, even though they have lots of good qualities. I am guessing it had somewhere in the 400-500 calorie range, although that may be too conservative.
The problem with that was that it came with fries, which are 420 calories. If I hadn't eaten all the fries or any of the chips, I actually would have been fine. But then again, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the outing as much.
So why did I not get the Tortilla Soup? Guilt. I told my wife that I was going to order it and she gave me a snide remark, something like "yeah, because everyone enjoys a good bowl of soup when it's in the mid-80s."
See, another problem with eating out. You get guilted into deviating from your path.

I think you did very well, Luis. Good choices. I wouldn't have been so good because I love avacado and have absolutely no will power when out with friends. Thanks for the update.
Thanks, Polly. I really wanted a burger. When it's in front of you and you have the option, it's hard to say no but I kept thinking of the calories and knew that there was no way it was worth it.
